چکیده
Abstract Background In several previous studies, Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) score was associated with postoperative complications, mortality, and re-admission. There are few reports about the influence of CCI on clinical outcome. The purpose this study to investigate comorbidities as calculated outcomes after PLIF. Methods Three hundred sixty-six patients who underwent an elective primary single-level PLIF were included. Postoperative outcome evaluated Japanese Orthopaedic Association lumbar (JOA score). correlation coefficient between improvement in JOA investigated. Patients divided into three groups according their (0, 1, 2+). rate, length stay (LOS), direct cost compared each group. complications also Results a weak negative relationship rate ( r = − 0.20). LOS had almost no score. group 0 1 significantly higher than 2+. different 14 complications. Adverse equivalently distributed group, not number comorbidities. Conclusions A leads poor recovery two or more without However, did increased costs. surgeon must take consideration patient’s when planning surgical intervention order achieve good

Outcome of single level instrumented posterior lumbar interbody fusion using corticocancellous laminectomy bone chips
BACKGROUND Interbody fusion surgery has been considered by many to be a treatment of choice for instability in lumbar degenerative disc disease. A posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) has the advantages of spinal canal decompression, anterior column reconstruction, and reduction of the sagittal slips from a single posterior approach. The PLIF using double cage was a standard practice till m...
متن کاملPosterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion
Posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) is a procedure used to treat problems such as disc degeneration, disc herniation, and spine instability. In this procedure, the surgeon works on the spine from the back and removes a spinal disc in the lower (lumbar) spine. The surgeon inserts bone graft material into the space between the two vertebrae where the disc was removed (the interbody space). T...
متن کاملClinical and radiological outcome of minimally invasive posterior lumbar interbody fusion in primary versus revision surgery
PURPOSE The aim of this study is to compare the clinical and radiological outcome of minimally invasive posterior lumbar interbody fusion (MI-PLIF) in revision and primary cases. METHODS In a retrospective study, we compared the clinical and radiological results of MI-PLIF for lytic spondylolisthesis (n = 28) and recurrent radiculopathy after herniated disc surgery (n = 28). Clinical outcome ...
متن کاملLumbar Alignment and Clinical Outcome after Single Level Asymmetrical Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion for Degenerative Spondylolisthesis with Local Coronal Imbalance
Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is widely accepted for the treatment of lumbar arthrodesis. However, the exact characteristics of TLIF depend on the number, location, shape, or materials of the interbody implants, and the type of posterior instrument. Clinical and biomechanical characteristics of each TLIF procedure are still unclear. The present study investigated the clinical an...
متن کاملGood Functional Outcome and Adjacent Segment Disc Quality 10 Years after Single-Level Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion with Posterior Fixation
We reviewed the records of a prospective consecutive cohort to evaluate the clinical performance of anterior lumbar interbody fusion with a titanium box cage and posterior fixation, with emphasis on long-term functional outcome. Thirty-two patients with chronic low back pain underwent anterior lumbar interbody fusion and posterior fixation. Radiological and functional results (visual analogue s...
